Privacy Policy — Japanese Deck

Japanese Deck does not collect anything about you. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us, or to anyone else.

What the app stores

So that it can remember where you are, the app saves the following on your device only:

which words you have learned, starred, or sorted into your piles
quiz results, streaks and progress
your settings — theme, card font, reading hints, word-of-the-day schedule
the words you have collected

This lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone. It is never transmitted anywhere, and it is deleted when you delete the app. If you back up your iPhone, it is part of that backup, the same as any other app's data.

No accounts, no tracking

There is nothing to sign up for. The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party software kits of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, and we have nothing about you to sell, share or lose.

The app works offline

Every word, recording, illustration and stroke-order guide is inside the app when you download it. Studying makes no network requests at all — the app works the same in a plane or a subway.

When the internet is involved

Only when you choose it:

Tapping a link — such as this website, or an outside Japanese-learning resource — opens that page in a browser. That site sees an ordinary visit and its own privacy policy applies.
The share button hands a short message to your iPhone's share sheet. You pick where it goes.
Word-of-the-day reminders are scheduled by your iPhone, on your iPhone. No server is involved, and you can turn them off at any time.
Spoken Japanese is either played from audio files inside the app or spoken by your iPhone's own built-in speech.

Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

Buying the app

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your name, your card, or your address — Apple reports only anonymous sales totals to us.

Japanese Deck's App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected, across every category.

Changes

If any of this ever changes, this page and the date at the top will be updated before the change ships.
